Bixby Knolls Weekend – What’s Up for the Weekend of October 2, 2009

Wondering what to do with your weekend plans here in Bixby Knolls?  Are you looking for family fun?  Have friends in town?  Want to try something new?  Bixby Knolls has plenty of fun and interesting things for you to do.   The best thing is, you can find something exciting ANY day of the week.

• On October 2nd, First Fridays features “Early Halloween”!  Atlantic Avenue will host a mixed bag of tricks and treat… think the Bixby superhero and zombies on parade!

  What’s happening: artwork on display, dance performances, live theatre, guitarists, harpists, keyboards, communal drums, whacky hairdos, vintage vinyl, metals, mosaics, makeup, songwriters, photography, face mapping, zombies, costumes on the catwalk, cemetery ghosts, lunatics, scary monsters, super creeps, local TV personalities, and the Knolls Ranger.

  Family Night: Supporting our local schools are Nino’s Italian Restaurant hosting Hughes Middle School, Red Brick Pizza hosting Longfellow Elementary, and Georgie’s 50s Diner hosting Los Cerritos Elementary. You can donate 20% of your bill to the schools. Families are encouraged to dress up as zombies for dinner and make-up stations will be available if you want to complete your zombie-cation for the art walk.

  Alive Theatre @ Expo (4321 Atlantic Avenue) is holding the 1st Annual ZOMBIE WALK.  Their night of the living dead will be a fun event for people of all ages.  You can look forward to ZOMBIE cake-walks, makeup stations, tricks and treats with a ZOMBIE King and Queen crowning and finale ZOMBIE Cat Walk in the Expo @ 9pm.  They encourage you to dress-up and will have a make-up artists will be on-site to “Zombie-fy” you if you need some help.

  The Big Red Bus arrives at 6:30pm (3853 Atlantic Avenue)to take you from venue to venue.
